What IV Therapy Does

Intravenous nutrient therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals and amino acids straight into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract entirely.

That bypass is the actual mechanism. Oral absorption is limited for several nutrients — vitamin C and magnesium in particular are absorbed at a declining rate as the dose rises, and much of a large oral dose is simply excreted. Intravenous delivery achieves blood concentrations that oral supplementation cannot.

Where IV therapy is genuinely, reliably effective is hydration. If you are dehydrated — from illness, travel, intense exercise, or alcohol — intravenous fluids correct that faster and more completely than drinking, and most of the immediate improvement people feel comes from this rather than from the vitamins.

What patients use it for

  • Dehydration from illness, heat, travel, or exertion
  • Recovery after intense training or competition
  • Hangover — fluids, electrolytes and anti-nausea support
  • Immune support during illness or before travel
  • Jet lag and fatigue after long flights
  • Documented nutrient deficiencies, particularly where absorption is impaired

An Honest Word About What IV Therapy Cannot Do

This category is heavily oversold across Los Angeles, so it is worth being direct about the evidence.

Hydration and correcting a documented deficiency are well supported. Beyond that, claims become considerably weaker. IV vitamin therapy does not detoxify your body — your liver and kidneys do that continuously, and they do not need assistance from a drip. It does not cure illness, though fluids can make you feel better while your immune system does its work.

If you are not deficient, extra water-soluble vitamins are largely excreted. A high-dose vitamin C infusion in a well-nourished person mostly produces expensive urine. This is not a reason never to have one — feeling well hydrated has real value — but it should be an informed purchase.

It is not a substitute for diagnosis. Persistent fatigue deserves investigation. If you are exhausted every week, the useful step is bloodwork looking at thyroid, iron, B12, vitamin D and hormones — not a standing drip appointment. We would rather find the cause.

Safety and who should not have it

IV therapy is generally low-risk in healthy adults, with bruising, discomfort at the site, and rarely infection or vein irritation being the main issues. It requires more caution, or is unsuitable, if you have kidney disease or heart failure — where a fluid load carries real risk — or certain other conditions. Disclose your medical history; this is a medical treatment, not a beverage.

What a Session Involves

Review with the physician

Dr. Moghadam reviews your symptoms, history and medications, and recommends a formulation — or advises that an IV is not the right answer.

Placement

A small cannula is placed, usually in the arm. A brief pinch, then nothing.

Infusion

Thirty to sixty minutes depending on the drip and volume. You sit comfortably; most people work, read or rest.

Monitoring

Staff check on you throughout and remain available until the infusion finishes.

Afterward

No downtime. Most patients feel the hydration effect within a few hours.

IV Therapy Questions

Both, depending on the claim. For hydration it is genuinely and reliably effective — fluids delivered intravenously correct dehydration faster and more completely than drinking. For correcting a documented deficiency it also works well. Claims about detoxification, curing illness, or benefits in people who are not deficient are not well supported, and most of the immediate improvement people feel comes from rehydration rather than the vitamins.

Most of our drips are $300, with the Super Drip at $350. Vitamin shots are priced separately — call for current pricing. There is no charge for the physician review that determines which formulation suits you.

Thirty to sixty minutes depending on the drip and volume. You are seated comfortably throughout and most patients work, read, or simply rest. There is no downtime afterward.

There is a brief pinch when the cannula is placed, then generally nothing for the rest of the session. Some people notice a cool sensation as the fluid runs, or a metallic taste with certain vitamins, both of which are normal and harmless.

That depends entirely on why you are having it. For a specific event — illness, travel, a hangover, hard competition — a single session is the point. Regular scheduled infusions in a healthy, well-nourished person have limited evidence behind them, and we would rather investigate why you feel depleted than sell you a standing appointment.

It requires real caution, or is unsuitable, if you have kidney disease or heart failure, since a fluid load can be genuinely dangerous in those conditions. Certain vitamin formulations are also inappropriate with specific conditions or medications — high-dose vitamin C, for example, needs care in people with G6PD deficiency or a history of kidney stones. Disclose your full history and medication list.

Not on its own, and we would not sell it to you as a weight loss treatment. Some formulations support metabolic function alongside a structured programme, but no infusion causes meaningful fat loss by itself. If weight is your goal, our medically supervised weight loss programme is the appropriate route.

Yes. Dr. Moghadam reviews your symptoms, history and medications before any infusion and selects or adjusts the formulation. If an IV is not the right answer for what you are describing, you will be told that.
