Built for the lower face. Vollure softens laugh lines and marionette lines while staying flexible enough to move naturally when you smile.
Nasolabial folds — the lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth — and marionette lines, which continue down from the mouth toward the jaw, are among the first changes people notice in the mirror. They also carry disproportionate emotional weight, because deep folds in the lower face read as disapproval or fatigue even when you feel neither.
Juvederm Vollure XC was engineered specifically for this zone. It occupies the middle ground in the Juvederm range: more substantial than Volbella, softer and more flexible than Voluma. The lower face moves constantly with speech and expression, so a filler here has to hold correction without feeling stiff.
One important caveat: a deep nasolabial fold is often a mid-face problem in disguise. When cheek fat descends, it piles against the fold and deepens it. Filling the fold alone can look heavy. Frequently the better plan is supporting the cheek with Voluma first, then refining what remains with Vollure.
Vollure lasts up to eighteen months in the nasolabial folds — notably durable for an area that moves as much as the lower face does.
Filler is not a commodity procedure. Where product sits relative to bone, muscle, and vasculature decides whether a result looks refreshed or overdone. At Modern Aesthetica the founder and medical director, Dr. Daniel Moghadam, performs the injections himself rather than delegating to a technician.
We do not begin with a product. We begin with what is actually happening in your face — where volume has gone, how your skin behaves when it moves, how light falls across your cheekbones. The right filler follows from that. Sometimes the answer is a different treatment entirely, and we will say so.
We would rather place less and refine at your follow-up than overfill. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if needed, but a face that has been overcorrected takes real time to recover its proportions.
Fillers are priced per syringe. You will know how many syringes are planned and what the total is before anything is injected. Current offers are on our promotions page.
Dr. Moghadam assesses your facial structure at rest and in motion, identifies where volume has been lost, and explains which product suits that tissue and why.
Most fillers contain lidocaine, and we apply topical numbing beforehand. Comfort is genuinely manageable for the great majority of patients.
Product is placed through a fine needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area. Most treatments run 20 to 45 minutes.
You will see the change in a mirror before you leave. Mild swelling is normal and settles over several days.
We assess the settled result and add product only if an area genuinely needs balancing.
Expect some swelling and the possibility of bruising — this is an injection, and the face is vascular. Most swelling resolves within three to five days, and the result you will keep is visible at about two weeks.
Call us at (213) 895-4730 if you develop unusual pain, blanching or dusky discoloration of the skin, or vision changes. These are rare, but they are treated urgently — one more reason to be injected by a physician.
Most patients find it very manageable. Nearly all modern fillers include lidocaine, and we apply topical numbing cream before starting. You will feel pressure and a brief pinch at each entry point. Lip treatments are the most sensitive area and we take extra care there.
Most people return to work the same or next day. Expect mild swelling for three to five days, and possible bruising for up to a week. If you have an important event, book at least two weeks ahead so the result has fully settled.
Hyaluronic acid fillers — the Juvederm and Restylane families — can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, usually within a day or two. This is a meaningful safety advantage and one reason we favor HA products for most patients. Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra are not reversible, which is why we dose them gradually.
Pricing is per syringe, and how many syringes you need depends on the area and the degree of volume loss. Lips typically take one syringe; restoring mid-face volume often takes two or more. We give you the exact syringe count and total at your complimentary consultation, before any treatment begins. Call (213) 895-4730 to schedule.
Up to eighteen months in the nasolabial folds for many patients, which is impressive for such a mobile area. Longevity varies with how much you talk and smile, your metabolism, and how much product was placed.
It can, if the fold is filled in isolation when the real cause is mid-face volume loss. When descended cheek fat is stacking against the fold, adding more product directly into the crease adds weight to an already heavy area. We assess the mid-face first and often recommend supporting the cheek before treating the fold itself.
One to two syringes covers most cases when the folds are the only concern. If the mid-face also needs support, the total plan may involve additional product placed higher in the face. We give you the full syringe count and cost at consultation.
It can be, but it is not usually our first choice. Volbella is finer and integrates more softly into lip tissue, which produces a more natural feel. Vollure is better deployed where it was designed to work — the nasolabial folds and lower face.
