Who holds the syringe changes the outcome more than which product is in it. At Modern Aesthetica, that is always the physician.
Aesthetic products are largely standardised. The same Juvederm, the same Botox, the same devices are available to practices across Los Angeles. What differs enormously is judgement.
Dr. Daniel Moghadam is the founder and medical director of Modern Aesthetica, and he performs the treatments himself. He is not a supervising signature for a technician working from a template — he is the person assessing your anatomy and deciding placement.
In dosing judgement. Forehead strength varies enormously between patients. A standard 20 units leaves one patient unchanged and another heavy-browed. Reading how a face actually moves is not something a protocol captures.
In anatomical safety. The most serious filler complication is vascular occlusion — product entering a blood vessel and obstructing flow, which can cause tissue loss or, very rarely, vision loss. Risk is reduced by understanding the vascular anatomy, injecting slowly at low pressure, and recognising a problem immediately. This matters most in high-risk areas like the nose and tear trough.
In saying no. A physician has no commercial reason to treat someone who should not be treated. Patients regularly leave here with a smaller plan than they arrived expecting, or with a recommendation for surgery, or with advice to wait.
In breadth. Because the practice also provides hormone therapy, medical weight loss and regenerative treatment, the answer to a cosmetic complaint is sometimes a medical one.
If you are choosing between practices — here or elsewhere — these questions are more useful than reading reviews.
We would rather you asked these and chose elsewhere than proceeded anywhere without asking them.
Filler is not a commodity procedure. Where product sits relative to bone, muscle, and vasculature decides whether a result looks refreshed or overdone. At Modern Aesthetica the founder and medical director, Dr. Daniel Moghadam, performs the injections himself rather than delegating to a technician.
We do not begin with a product. We begin with what is actually happening in your face — where volume has gone, how your skin behaves when it moves, how light falls across your cheekbones. The right filler follows from that. Sometimes the answer is a different treatment entirely, and we will say so.
We would rather place less and refine at your follow-up than overfill. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if needed, but a face that has been overcorrected takes real time to recover its proportions.
Fillers are priced per syringe. You will know how many syringes are planned and what the total is before anything is injected. Current offers are on our promotions page.
Dr. Daniel Moghadam, the founder and medical director, performs them himself. He is not an off-site supervising physician for a technician. The same physician sees you each visit, which matters for consistency and for knowing how your face has responded previously.
It matters less for product choice than for judgement — dosing decisions, anatomical safety in high-risk areas, and recognising and managing a complication immediately. Many nurse injectors are highly skilled. The question worth asking anywhere is who physically performs the treatment and what happens if something goes wrong.
Vascular occlusion — product entering a blood vessel and obstructing blood flow, which can cause skin necrosis or, very rarely, vision loss. It is rare and strongly associated with injector inexperience. Risk is reduced by understanding the vascular anatomy, using small volumes at low pressure, and having hyaluronidase immediately available to dissolve product.
Yes, and it happens regularly. Patients arrive asking for filler and leave with a skin treatment plan, or advice to wait, or a recommendation to see a surgeon. A physician has no commercial reason to treat someone who should not be treated.
Yes, and dosing genuinely differs. Men typically need higher Botox units due to greater muscle mass, and aesthetic goals differ — preserving a flat brow rather than creating an arch, maintaining jaw definition rather than softening it. We also provide men's health and hormone services.
Modern Aesthetica opened in January 2017 and is located at 8907 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 270, Beverly Hills.
Yes, initial consultations are complimentary with no obligation to treat the same day. Many patients use them to get a second opinion on a plan quoted elsewhere.
Tell us. We review every patient at two weeks specifically so adjustments can be made. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if genuinely needed. Botox cannot be reversed, which is exactly why we dose conservatively and add rather than overshoot.
